Cancellation policy - celebration cakes

Dear Friend Bakery requires payment for celebration cakes upon ordering. If the cake order is cancelled at least 7 days before the event date, we will provide 100% refund to the original method of payment. Within 7 days, we will issue a 50% refund.

Cancellation policy - wedding cakes

To secure a wedding date, a £50 non refundable date hold deposit is required. Payment in full is required 30 days prior to your event. DFB will provide a 50% refund if client cancels within 14 days of event date. DFB is not required to provide refunds within 7 days as ingredient, floral and foliage orders will have already been processed during this time.

Cake Delivery

All cake deliveries must be arranged and paid for in advance.

When delivery is arranged, we do everything we can to ensure that your cake makes it safely to its destination. Of course there are rare scenarios in which circumstances beyond our control, such as extreme weather, severe traffic or road accidents may affect the transportation of your cake. In these unfortunate circumstances, DFB will assess the severity of the situation and issue a full or partial refund. Keep in mind, cakes are very delicate creations! Our cakes are situated with ample support and we pride ourselves in excellent client service and clear communication. DFB does not provide any additional support or compensation outside of a full refund in full.

Cake Pick Up

Pick up is available from our kitchen, based in Penge, SE20. All cake pick ups must be arranged in advannce. We can advise you on the best way to transport your cake, however, once your cake leaves the premises we can no longer be responsible for any bumps/damage cauased in transit or at the destination.

Cake Decor

As all our cakes are lovingly made by hand, the final colour and decor of the product may differ from previously photographed cakes and are subject to supply. Images on the website and social platforms show is a representation of the cake you will receive. With regard to floral decor, while we will endeavour to fulfil a client's wishes, the eventual aesthetic of the cake will be determined by seasonal availability of flowers. No two cakes will look identical, and we do not copy other baker's designs. DFB will work with the client to achieve as close to the desired look as possible.

Allergies & Dietary restrictions

All of our cakes are made to order! We will ask you until it becomes annoying about allergies and dietary restrictions. While we use the same proprietary recipes, we can make adjustments to endeavour to suit allergies and dietary requirements, however, Dear Friend Bakery operates in a kitchen which handles GLUTEN (OAT, WHEAT), SOYA, NUTS, PEANUTS, SESAME AND SULPHITES, as such, we cannot guarantee allergen free products.

100% Plant Based

Our cakes taste like... cake. Just without animal products.

Dear Friend Bakery makes 100% plant based cakes and our recipes are written with this in mind meaning we can not and will not bake any cakes with animal sourced ingredients such as eggs, cow milk, etc. So please don't ask!

Cake Care

Please always carry cake boxes from beneath and do not hold cake boxes from the side (because, it will get squashed!). Do not place anything on top of the cake box (again, squash!), and place on a flat surface at all times.

We advise cake be refridgerated in the box, if not being served immediately. Remove from the fridge and allow the cake to come to room temp (1-2 hours) before serving. Please avoid leaving the cake in a hot area, or in direct sunlight - it will melt! Leftover cake can be stored in a sealed container in the fridge and consumed up to four days after receipt.

Wedding Tasting Package & Deposit

Wedding and event planning is often a lengthy process! Initially we will discuss flavour profiles, style, availability and budget. If DFB has availability and the client would like to proceed, we will then provide an arranged tasting package of three mini cakes including delivery within London for £50. Should the client choose DFB as the wedding cake baker, the £50 paid for the tasting package will be applied as a non-refundable date hold deposit. If the final price of your cake (not including floral, foliage or delivery) exceeds £250, then this £50 will also be deducted from the final balance.

Wedding Cake Set Up

Dear Friend Bakery will set up your cake with a provided or arranged stand/table. In some cases, we will unbox and place the cake into a refridgeration unit. This arrangement will be determined by the client, DFB and event planner. Once your cake has been set up to satisfaction, we are no longer responsible for your cake. DFB will only provide service to be on site for the initial set up of your cake and will no longer be able to provide service throughout the duration of your event. It is recommended to ensure that a table, stand and climate are prearranged with your venue/event planner.
